Dear Friends
I apologise for a late April newsletter.
It was one of those instances when you are waiting for immanent news to share, which then seems to drag on and doesn't materialise.
So here is the highlights for April:
Two young missionary friends from a city region graced me with their presence for a weekend earlier this month and we spent quality time together doing bible studies with the young men's group and just getting to know them (who now meet regularly in the village neighbouring us).
With their fine grasp of the Cechewa language they made very quick in-roads into the hearts of the local young men in the group and it was a strong testimony to me of the benefit and absolute necessity of learning the heart-language of the people you are trying to reach out to.
Plans are afoot to make a return visit to the same group in this village with some of their young Malawian men from their church who are excited to also meet and encourage these young men in the Lord.
We are looking at the end of May/June to do this and are considering doing an exegesis on the book of Romans as the topic of that visit.
My aim has been to see the group of believers stand independently of myself (or any non-national) and be self-propagating and God glorifying. I have with God's help managed to connect and facilitate relationships to local pastors, men of repute, and we pray these relationships continue to grow. Besides this I have been working with some of the leaders of this small group who have been helping me translate for the worker's bible study which we run every other day from the base here, and I am very encouraged in watching them grow and increase in the grace and knowledge of Christ.
This Bible study has been going well. Continued hunger for God's word prevails and the participants are growing in knowledge of God and His word. Please pray that God will in His own Sovereign grace bring them to a saving knowledge of Himself! Please pray also for wisdom for me in how to help nationals without hurting them in the long-run.
The packing up of all my belongings has gone well, it is almost completely done now and a huge relief to get that off my chest. I am still looking for options to take my trailer and 11 boxes down to S.A with me. Please pray for this.
I have a pretty good possibility of some work when I return, please also pray for accommodation and if possible a car/bakkie to become available for rental and purchase respectively. There are some options for accomo. opening up.
Lastly, I want to thank all for all your prayers and to ask you to pray even more as the teaching of God's word is, I believe bringing in stronger spiritual opposition.
In Christ
Dave.
