April 17- Journal

Today, one of my friends from the neighbouring village shared a testimony which I would like to post;

I will call him Philip;
 A couple of days ago he was at home in his room reading his bible, a friend of his father's came in and began questioning him on his Christian faith and challenging him from a Muslim perspective. Philip entreated the older man to sit with him and have a peaceful discussion, which he agreed to.

The man told my friend that as a Christian he has no hope of getting into heaven, why does he keep following this Christian religion?
So Philip asked him, " So you tell me, how do you think you will get to heaven?" The man answered, "By keeping the commandments", "What, those of Moses?", Philip replied. " Yes", was the man's answer.
Then Philip went on to help the man see what constitutes obedience to that law and then the man became convinced that trying to keep it well enough was an impossibility for him! In despair he then asked Philip what hope Philip had of getting to heaven.
Philip replied that it was only in Jesus and because of His sinless, perfect life, and death for him that he has his hope of getting into heaven.
The man became very pleased with Philip's answer and said that he must go now but that he will speak further with Philip on the issue.

Praise be to God for this opportunity to share the good news and for the power of God's word to convict. Pray for this other man that God's Word will bear fruit of salvation in his heart.
