Dear Friends and Family,
Driving back to the base last night was the first time in over 3 months for all of us, and my first time to return in the middle of summer. It was a pleasant welcoming; from about 100km out the darkening night and the quieting of the hustle and bustle of city commotion became increasingly evident, and so inviting. We had spent the previous two weeks or so in cities doing a lot of busy running around in our preparation to return, and in my case it was largely taken up pursuing the girl of my prayers, Natashia, who has become my fiancé to my wonderful delight!
The children were so excited to return home as well and have wasted no time in getting back to the things they love doing around the home. M was kitted up to the hilt in his 'Baboon catching' gear by early this morning, feet mudded all up to his knees and no torrential down-pour could dissuade him. H too was out with her guinea pigs - in the rain - trying to make life as comfortable as possible for them. M was...well just being two! K was doing what she does best - sleeping peacefully.
I have mostly finished un-packing all my things and am settling into the cottage. Such a blessing to have that space and amenities all to myself, for the time being! We are expecting about 3 teams before mid-year this year as well as other guests who will need to be accommodated in my cottage at times, and then I will vacate to the tent.
Thoughts and plans are underway regarding providing further accommodation for those joining the ministry, long-term and short-term up here. Finances are the main hurdle to overcome, but if it is a need, God will supply according to His riches and faithfulness. Please be in prayer regarding this matter.
Well with a very busy year ahead this year, with the school forging forward, another intern, Andrew starting in March, who some of you know already from the short-term trip, and an extra baby, K in the family and myself with all my studies to get through, Language and Theological, not to mention the unfolding of Gods plans for Natashia and I in the timing and out-working of our marriage and making a home in Malawi for ourselves. I even already have some orders for some private cabinetry ‘nog-al!’ Let's not forget the developing of the ministry which will take precedence in all things.
This year holds allot of exciting prospects!
Let us pray that the Lord's hand of guidance and blessing will be upon all our efforts so that in everything and at all times, He will be glorified in all that we do!
"..He who is the blessed and only Sovereign, the King of Kings and Lord of Lords, who alone possesses immortality and dwells in unapproachable light, whom no man has seen or can see. To Him be honour and eternal dominion! Amen." 2 Tim.6:15-16.
Dave Olds.
